Michael Ruben DeSilva

It is with great sadness that Augustus Funeral Home announces the passing of MICHAEL RUBEN “BIRD” DESILVA, in his 46th year. Michael was predeceased by his wife, Geneve Grant-DeSilva; his mother, Kathy Rose DeSilva; his grandparents, Phillip and Dorothy DeSilva, Constance Turner, and Ruben Acevedo Sr.; and his uncle, Ruben Acevedo Jr., Left to cherish his memory are his beloved children, Micah and Isabella (their mother, Rickeya Williams), and his son, Haaven (his mother, the late Geneve Grant-DeSilva); his stepchildren, Keshon Paynter and Kimoni Campbell; and Isaiah Pearman-Williams, whom he helped raise and loved as his own.He is also survived by his devoted father, P. Michael DeSilva; his loving sisters, Kalina Acevedo-Allston (Tyrone) and Shauntia Steede; his brother, Deshun (Ronelle); his nieces, Sianna, Brianna, Kristin, and Kalia; his nephews, Robert and Sean; his aunts, Jean-Anne McConnie and Korla Callender (Eric); his uncles, David DeSilva (the late Lucy) and Curtis Turner (Olivia); his godchildren, Jahziah and Amiyah Santucci Roberts, Kyana Woodbury, Rome, and Reign Dill; his cousins, Andy McConnie (Loretta), Steven, Kevin Jr., Kazmere, CJ, Shari, Bryan, Demornay, and Venecia; and many other relatives and friends.Michael’s life was enriched by the love and care of Debbie DeSilva, who was like a mother to him, the encouragement and guidance of Rhonda Furbert, and for the kindness and support of Daphne Robinson.He will be deeply missed by his close friends: Perry Simons, Melissa Santucci, Larry Roberts, Tashea Bean, Kamera Harrell, Azae Dowling, and Quincy Brangman.He will also be remembered by his colleagues and friends in Perioperative Services and throughout the Bermuda Hospitals Board. A Service honoring the life of Michael Ruben “Bird” DeSilva will be held at St. James Anglican Church, Somerset, on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 3p.m., followed by interment at Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery, Secretary Rd. St. George’s. There will be no public viewing. Colours may be worn in celebration of Michael’s life.
