We regret to announce the passing of EMILY JEAN SWAN, in her 71st year of the United States, formerly of Crisson Avenue, Pembroke. Emily was the daughter of the late Glenda Elaine Burt (Arthur “Ed”) and the late Clifford Leon Hill. She was the loving mother of Glynnis Swan Smith (Michael), Edward “Eddie” Swan (Helena), and Chelsea Kpodi (John), and sister of Linda Ree Gaylord (Charles), Betty Lee Smith (Winsfield), and Clifford Hill Jr. (Mariette). She is survived by her cherished grandchildren, Azuré Smith-Swan, Adrien Smith, Jeremiah and Josiah Swan, and Johanna and Eliana Kpodi; great-granddaughter, Skyla Mudd; nieces, Zulekha “Nicole” Nicholas (Ochan), Dionne Powell, Teri-Lyn Swan, Kristi-Lia Harvey, Emily Marie and Marsha Hill; nephews, Winsfield “Rico” Smith (Naomi), Cruz Swan, DeZier Smith-Hill (Cierra), Jeremiah and Marcellous Hill; great-nephews, Ochan and Omari Nicholas; cousins, Terri Lynn Brown (Kirt), Randy Jones (Brenda), Tasha Jones, and Teneil Ragland (Darrin). She also leaves to mourn special family and friends including Gina Swan Smith (Philip), Edward “Ed” Swan, Adrienne Cobbs and family, Rosie Smith, Kathy “Essa” Rogers, Annette Daniels, Nadia Dublin Williams, Karen “Nicky” Stovall, Jamel Hardtman, Frederick (Neil) Lathan, Josie Lathan and family, Debbie Furbert, China Nisbett, Ingrid and Helene Rabain, the former KeyWest Royals softball team, Sydonnie Bademosi, Georgia Fevriere, Sandra Outerbridge, Reed Lightbourne, Lieutenant-Colonel Eugene Raynor, Patricia O’Connor, Winifred Mallam, the Berkeley Institute Class of ’72, Eugene “Dino” Minors, Shervin Dill and family, Vance Hollis, Rudolph “Buddy” Hollis, the North Village Community Club family, the extended Jones, Tucker, Place, and Wilkinson families, the spiritual family of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and numerous other friends and relatives. She also leaves special friends in the United States including Theresa Matthews, Patricia and Jennifer Roy, Lenora “Lee” Gordon, Serena Warren, Cora McClendon, Vicki McKenzie, Khalilah Purifie, the Massey family, Regina Lee, Charlene Kinion, Mary Boyette, Kim Vesterfelt, and the Mary Kay family. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Lilla Tucker (Maxwell “Mac”), and uncles, Lawrence “Tinky” Jones, and Maurice “Mocky” Smith (Thelma). Emily will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
